SKS NOT Inaccurate! RANGE REPORT!

I have 2 Chinese SKS's and i love em! but i would like to add a Russian to the mix soon too...

You are showing a 1.5 MOA 5 round group. Very impressive for an SKS. Typical accuracy is around 3-4 Minutes of angle. If you fired another 5 rounds into this target and they landed in the same cluster then you have a 1.5 MOA rifle and ammo combo. If some rounds fell outside then you have an average accurate sks. (which is still pretty decent for what it is.) There is an expression no group ever got smaller by shooting at it.

Now for my rant. If you believed everything on the internet an sks is supposed to be minute of barn door accurate, and a M-16 could be used to thread a needle in a pinch. the experience of most here is the sks is 3-4 minutes accurate. My experience with the C-7 is that they are 2-3 Minutes accurate. I had the occasional 1 inch group but that was not typical. I used to compete in service rifle with the canadian forces.

It has been 20 years so my memory might not be perfect, however I do remember that perfect scores were not common. To get a perfect score you would need to hold 50 rounds inside a 3 Minute of angle bullseye from various position between 100 yards 300 yards and 500 yards.

My opinion is an sks is slightly less accurate than typical M-16 Variant, and if you are shooting cheap ammo out of both then it is complete wash.

SKS have challenges for achieving thier accuracy potential short sight radius, heavy and rough trigger pulls, stock is fitted for someone whereing a parka.

But despite this they are accurate enough for the intended usage. To hold off the Nato hoards as they storm across the motherland back in the 1950s.
