SKS not refurbished, how to tell?

I purchased a 1952 Russian SKS from a fellow GNC member and couldn't be happier with the rifle I received today. It looks as if it has never been used. I have a couple other SKS rifles and they have the refurbish marks on the bolt cover, this one does not. Were all of these rifles we get in Canada issued or were some put into storage when new and sold as surplus?

That's not the only indicator of a refurb.

OP, there are threads at the top of this page called stickies. READ THEM.

If its in North America and its not a bringback..........its a refurb. I've got a few of these SKS that look untouched, no refurb marks, no apparent changes, even no import marks, but they all went through the export/import process so I consider them refurbs regardless. However, they are still very nice to find in that condition!

Keep thinking that if it makes you happy. :)

I'm sorry, you can call oranges "apples", but the rest of the world will keep calling them oranges :) There are huge amount of non refurbished skss in NA.

Wow...we have ourselves a resident SKS expert! Finally!!

I just bought a NO Date late 56 Tula matching # and the only stamps on it at all are the serials and that's it. No repainting or changes so it may be a non-refurb but I'll need to have an expert look at it.

It appears that all you can say is ... not very much. So Why bother?

What I'm saying is, anybody who has read the stickies would not have made this post. Or at the very least it would have had proper pics. A lot of very knowledgeable people took the time to create those threads so that more threads like this one wouldn't be needed.

Gawd I feel like hitler in the YouTube rant about mosins. Whatever.

Some people like to have discussions. Who is forcing you to be burdened with reading this post? Stop reading it and go away. Your problem is solved.

I would agree, there are tons of SKS's that sport all their original parts. Perhaps you are correct in calling them non-refurbs. You know more than I do! But my understanding is that these all went back to the arsenal. no? And as far as being unaltered, if its got a pinned mag its not in its original state................and yes I know this has been discussed ad nauseam already........but its still fun ;)

That looks like the 3 I just picked up from WSS, I did some checking and according to what I read the blued bayo is one of the indicators of being a refurb. Best condition rifles I've seen in a while, no import marks even.
