There is a number "1" stamped on the base of my front sight. Does anyone know what this means? I have a 55/56 Tula refurb. I do not have any other number "1's" stamped anywhere on the rifle. Does anyone know what the "1" means?

Thanks!

I have heard that they tested the rifles for accuracy. I believe the range was from 1-3 with 1 being the best.

Its the dimension of the sight journal, nothing to do with accuracy test.

I Googled this and found a Russian article that states . The accuracy of an SKS was checked by firing 3 rounds at a target and if it obtained sniper quality it was marked on the front of the front sight base with the number 1, with #2 and #3 as accuracy decreased.
