Hey Gunnutz,
I been interested in a para SKS for a while. What is the deal with them. I can't really find any info on them.
Where can I get one? How much should I expect to pay for one? I know it would be a restricted rifle. Is there barrel kits that you can get? I'm looking forward to hearing from someone who has had or handled one. I'd also like to know if there are any issues with them being shorter. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!!

Wish they weren't restricted and available. Think it would be a very handy rifle.

So they are not available? Or just not popular due to the restriction?
Are they a factory made 16.5" barrel or is it a afterthought modification?
They are very handy rifles indeed! Thanks

These were commercially assembled for sale in the US - hence the US compliant barrel.
Few and far between this side of the razor wire.
You cannot legally have a standard barrel cut back.
You could have a custom barrel made.

There we go!!!
So who on earth would make a custom SKS 16.5 "barrel for me??? Thanks for the info.
I would love to have one. I just can't get over it. I plan on spending the coin if need be.
I just love the look of the short SKS.

I have no idea what the barrel threads are. No doubt metric. This would reduce the number of smiths who could do the job. Trick might be to find a blank with the proper bore.

I have one of these... :d

What I really know on this .... is the laws are complete bull####. No realistic reason why we can't have Para's here.

Saw one at the Pickering gunshow about 3 or 4 years ago. They wanted $600 for it then, not sure what they would go for now. I considered buying it but passed because of the restricted status, wish now I had bought it, it looked very ###y with the shorter barrel.

Yes it is a sporter. It is restricted but it doesn't really bother me. I have a few more SKS to shoot when I don't go to the range. I bought it here on EE. It is the only one I have seen in Canada so I don't know how many more there are. When I saw it I had to have it...

I will try to post pictures tonight.
