that is a custom piece, para SKS's used a factory front sight base/bayo lug but with a shorter bayonet. That one somebody made to clamp to the barrel, but para length is 16", we can only go to 18.5" which leaves some of the barrel turned down to a little over 1/2" with a fake can you could make a suppressed krinkov looking sks though

thanks, the easiest would just be to find an original base and chop the lug off, but those arent that easy to find.. fake suppressor would look cool thoe

I just talked to the guy, darin... $29 US plus shipping.. this sight will not clamp on the end of the barrel where it is smaller if that makes sence

Helo all,

Thanks Joe, for letting me know this post was running.

I will do the kits for $29 plus shipping into Canada. This is a non restricted part as far as I know, and is under $100 which is our weird limit for gun parts that do not need an exporter.

This part is cut for the diameter at 16.5, so we can do two things.

1. I can make a Canadian batch with a smaler ID so you can set it at 18 inches.

2. you can set this at the end of the first step and have about 1.75 inches sticking out.

Anyone who needs one of these can contact me directly at

Thanks!

Well I'll be :D. Thanks for the info Darin. To be clear what he is talking about, the SKS barrel tapers down from chamber to muzzle to make sliding the various parts on easier at the factory. This front sight would not be able to clamp down at the 18.5" mark, it would be loose. If one could put a 1/2x28 tpi thread on the muzzle, one of these bad boys infront of the gas block and slip on a dummy suppressor, you'd have one sweet lookin SKS.

I do not understand, isnt the point of the sight, so you you can make a shorter more compact rifle. Why not cut the barrel to 16 inches and reregister the rifle to restricted. Would the powers that be consider the fake can as part of overall barrel length?

I cannot chime in here, as I do not know your barrel length laws.

I can tell you that creating a Canadian model would be a snap for me, and you would have much less hassle.

The taper is VERY SLIGHT, the issue is the steps. The rifle steps up right behind the original front sight.

bjs7293, unfortunately to re-barrel under 18.5" for semi's in Canada, the barrel has to be manufactured at that length. Cutting a longer barrel below 18.5" makes it prohib. But installing say a 12" Dlask barrel is ok :HR:

Cutting a existing barrel down under 18.5 but no less than 18 would make the gun restricted.

Cutting the barrel to under 18 would make the rifle prohibited.

Installing a brand new barrel that is shorter than 18 (ie, not cut down from something originally longer than 18) would be restricted.
