My cousin got an SKS for Christmas and it came with one of those spring loaded firing pins. About 100 rounds into his first case the pin broke clean in half. Anyone know where I can a replacement stock firing pin in Canada. Or, better yet, if I can get warranty on this broken spring loaded one?

Thanks

Probably best to get the correct one from Murray's south of the border. Don't think a non-sprung pin will work correctly. Might fit,but I'd not trust it to work. Good joke about warranty on it though.

If its a russian original spring loaded firing pin, you will need a russian part or order an aftermarket one from Murray. Free floating firing pin dont interchange with the spring loaded one,the bolt are different. You can try to have an original part from Lever or HiCal but originals part can be hard to find, they were only used on 1949 and 1950 SKS.

For warranty repair you will need to go back to 1954 and contact Stalin himself, and once you have contacted him, he will beat you to death with the remains of your rifle!

First, where did the rifle come from? I'd be contacting the seller first to enquire about a warranty repair.

If that's not an option, private sale maybe, then Marstar may be able to help you out with parts, as would several other site sponsors like Tradex etc.

As reliable as an SKS rifle is, I'm surprised at the lack of dealers that actually have parts in stock for these. I don't have anything broken, but I do have a stack of rifles with few spare parts other than some babba failures. I wouldn't mind to pick up the odd spare gas tube, piston, and firing pin just to have on the shelf. There doesn't seem to be much available considering how many of these rifles are in Canada and how much shooting is going on with the current affordable prices of ammunition.

Hey Dealers, whats up?

Hey Dealers, whats up?

The guns are cheap enough to buy a mutt one to canibalize.
