sks pinned or threaded

There are two pinned versions, and one threaded. The threaded barrel will have a larger shoulder and wrench flats. The standard pinned barrel will not have the same shape as the threaded one in front of the receiver, and there will be the pin. This pinned barrel is not a problem. Then there is the problem pinned version - there is a threaded shank set into the receiver, and the barrel is pinned to this sleeve. This is the version which has given problems. Not very many of these around, perhaps only one batch imported. The first two versions are fine.

if you are at a store and they wont left you take it apart to see the pins so you have two types, pinned and threaded. basicly threaded has a shoulder lug and pinned has none so it is straight when it meets the receiver.

I bought a SKS from Lever a couple years ago.

It had a pinned barrel.
In this particular batch, the pin used was of a diameter that was too small.
The 'smith at Lever's re-drilled the hole and installed a larger diameter pin.
No further issues.

2 cents.
