SKS price alert

still not a price that reflects after Feb/2025 - likely have to be "indigenous" to continue to be able to use....

.
I’m not clear on this: do you mean SKS rifles on the list so they can’t be used anymore? Are they officially paperweights, or can they still be used to hunt?

The Liberals did NOT put it on the list, because they said there are complications. Such as (but apparently not limited to) how many are used by Indigenous people to hunt. They'll announce their decision in February, when the new list of new bans drops.

Last year I bought a Chinese SKS from Cabalas and I must say it's the nicest SKS i ever had.

And I've owned a few over the years.

Nice! Which ones were your favorite/best shooters?

I am a little concerned about this wording in the add:

Perfect for restoration enthusiasts, or a unique challenge, these Surplus SKS Rifles await confident refurbishment skills to bring them anew.

WARNING: These rifles must undergo significant cleaning to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Purchase indicates understanding that the rifle will require thorough cleaning and/or refurbishment, including: processing the removal of grease and oil, potential surface rust, imperfections to stock, bore, bolt, barrel; and/or other minor repairs.

The nicest one other than the French tickler was a Russian with a laminate stock.
However the best shooters were the Chinese rifles.
I shot a little fork horn with one years ago and it was a one shot kill at 70 yards.
Deer ran downhill about 50-60 yards and piled up.

The FTs at Tenda were listed as 'UN-Issued' while the 'standard' Wood handguard ones were listed as "Surplus" and "Issued" The 'Cleaning' warning is because they are full of Cosmoline. The 'and/or refurb' is for the "Issued" ones that may have been fired a bit before going to the armory and sold to N. Am vendors like Cab and Tenda.

Wow quite the arsenal. You can supply the whole street when the end of the world comes . Just took a chance and ordered one from Cabela's was $100.00 off with free shipping. $529.00 to my door.

Were these rifles actually issued with either no or very little stain on the inside of the stock?

I want to try a Chinese unissued SKS, if Cabelas has one at the counter one day, I'm on it. If I have to order from Tenda on a sale one day and it says unissued, I'll be on it.

Next Feb we will be in a full election or Trudeau will prorogue parliament .
So either way the liberals can't introduce new items

Joel - RE the stain inside the stock. I looked at my 1980 FT and there is No 'stain' inside, there is No Varnish in there either. The inside wood looks to be a 'dark' wood with No stain marks, very consistent colouring. Not like a 'birch' or such. The varnish does spill inside on a few spots but seems intentionally Not varnished in there. And I've not seen the 'inside' of an 'Issued' standard one.

And here's a pic of the bore of the FT - Un-fired and then cleaned after 50-rnds - I left a little carbon there since I was going out again in a couple days. Note on the Far right of bore a bit of 'fuzz' in the gas port
