Hey guys,
I really put a BC tactical Scout mount on my soon to have SKS, but I also like the mall ninja look of the quad rail. Maybe add a bipod on it or something.
Question is, how good would a red dot go on it? Have my TRS on the way and thought that for the price of a BC mount I could get a quad rail for cheaper. Thoughts?

I have the ugt tri-rail, but haven't taken it out to the range yet. Since it has to be removed to clean the gas system, you will lose zero each time.

I was thinking of putting a small drop of JB weld where the bottom half of the rail mounts to the barrel, just so that part stays put when you strip the gun. Zero would still be lost, but I bet it would help a bit. Could maybe measure the gap between the pieces beforehand too...

A lot more weight for not a lot of functionality in my opinion.
I am a bit biased though, as my SKS is naked, and staying naked.
For me irons are good enough for a -$200 ammo spitter, and I like mine nice, simple and light. I'd go with either the upper receiver replacement with a rail on it, or one of the simple ones that go over the gas block.
For an sks, a bipod may be overkill, as it was developed as an assault rifle, not a precision rifle or LMG.

I thought that they come with bipods?

Better of with a TAPCO creature if thats what you want. Even though if I was going that route I would just get an 858.
As for my furture SkS build it's going to be a viet-cong fiberglas stock with a B.C. Tactical scout mount on it. Oh ya and a whole bunch of ammo!!!:p

That.......is officailly the coolest thing I've seen all day. I'd never even think of that. Just gotta figure out if its worth putting my bayonet back on to try that.
Although I cant suggest actually buying anything after seeing that option, theres also bi-pods that mount to the bayonet "lug" for apparently around $25;

Or, you can just stick your big f**kin' knife in the ground and be awesome.
Sneaky Russians thing of everything.
