I am probably in the wrong forum but cant find where to post so mods feel free to move to proper forum.
I have a regular Chinese SKS and want to know if If i could make it a single shot safely.
I know on the Yugos there is a gas shut off valve but what can i do to do this to a chinese one?
Thanks in advance

I figured it was because the propulsion gases gushed into the empty gas tube as soon as the bullet passed the gas port, venting rapidly to atmosphere instead of being resisted by the gas piston. If you had a chrony you could measure the difference the gas piston makes in velocity, I'd be willing to bet that it's a big difference (like 300~500fps). Maybe it's the drop in velocity that usually makes SKS's more accurate? I dunno.
No facts to support that, though.
