sks range time

Generally I guess my enfield will outshoot my SKS's with any ammo, but I did try reloading for my Norc SKS and got some really good groups but because of the softer commercial primers I got the occasional slam fire. So no more reloads for the SKS's unless I can find Milspec primers and try again.
Spring loaded firing pin should take care of that.

Like brotherjack said.

i have a few of each. while some of my Enfileds don't shoot very well, they all shoot as well as my best SKS or better. I have old eyes, so my SKS have either a scope or a peep sight.

a model 94 or 336 will probably surprise you on how accurate a lever action really is. the 30-30 as a cartridge has no flies on it and can be extremely accurate in the right vehicle.

are there people out there doing drive by's with 30/30's  :p

I have a 336 and there is no comparison with an SKS, but nevertheless the Marlin is the superior sporting arm.

My Enfield No4Mk2 is more accurate at 200m than than my SKS is at 50m.

That said, my little Simonov is not supposed to be a tack driver, and will hit center of mass at 100m all day long (which is what it was designed to do, right?).

I would like to see what the little Russki will do when I smooth up the god-awful atrocious trigger some, because right now I'm pretty sure I end up with a butthole cramp every time I try to fire a round now - The pull is analogous to trying to tow a freight car down a gravel road, by hand!

In a way the comparing of the two isn't a fair one. The Lee-Enfield ( SMLE thru No 4 Mk 2 ) is one of the finest bolt action military rifles produced whereas the SKS is a semi-automatic carbine designed to put out fire in volume and at relatively short range. The manufacturing tolerances of an SKS are poorer than even the Lee-Enfields that were produced in wartime and simply cannot compare to the, primarily hand-made, SMLE or the post-WW II No4 Mk2.

I own half a dozen Lee-Enfield's of various vintages and two Tula SKS's and enjoy them all, but comparing them is, to be honest, a little pointless and a bit like comparing two current but different military firearms ( say, an AR to a TRG ) one isn't better than the other, they just do different things.

I have never heard anyone say an SKS is more accurate then the Lee enfield. I have an SKS and my buddy has a 303 British and wile the SKS is good their is really no comparison. I find that 303 is amazingly accurate :sniper:
