The number are the distance in meters, in 100m increments. The SKS is graduated from 100 to 1000m (1 to 10 on the rear sight number). On the rear sight, below the #1, there's another mark, a cyrillic caracter on a russian or can be a number on a chinese sks. That setting is a battle setting of 300m. So if you place the rear sight on the #1 position and you zero your SKS at 100m, in theory you can engage target at various range and the differents setting will take care of the bullet drop. hope that helpi searched here and google, i suck at the search feature so feel free to flame me a little. the rear sight has numbered marking on it, what are they in relation to range?
yup very optimistic, a SKS is really effective around 300m or less, given the balistic of the 7.62x39mm.yup makes perfect sense. thanks alot for the great bit of information. although i think they were being optimistic when they went all the way to 1000 meters, lol.

Several thousand Russians with SKS firing at you a thousand meters away has extremely effective results. One single SKS a thousand meters away has little effect or danger.
i did some reading through this post and because it has pictures its helped me along.

sorry its just after 7 am and im flippin wired for some reason, dont have any sugar or caffeine in my system, just wired for some reason
fiddler thanks for the info.
really i think to hit 1000 yards you need a level with a 45 degree bubble and then you need to shoot it. even then i just dont know if it would hurt any more than getting hit with a rock at close range![]()
Yup, about 2.5 degrees. Rifle barrels don't angle up much.Actually, you don't need to put it at 45 degrees... just put it on the 1000m setting...
