SKS - removing the bayonet standard (not grinding it off)

No problem. :D I didn't get a pic of me driving off the base with the drift & hammer - If you do, don't tap on the front sight, tap on the bayonet holder part. It took a lot of whacks with the hammer & drift to get it off, probably a hundred or so (didn't want to really come on to it).

Edit: I also sprayed a lot of penetrating oil on the area to help out.

The M44's bayonet is standard sweat on. Machineing it of is the easiest thing...though this in my opinion is sacrilege.
The sks being made only shortly after the M44 and by the same arsenals would lead me to think that they are applied to the sks in a similar fashion.
Oops too late. You figured it out
