For my first SKS, what do you recommend as far as accuracy, durability and reliability is concern? I think that theres no differences between the two but maybe I'm wrong?

Thanks for sharing your infos

For what it's worth, my Chinese SKS is more accurate than my Russian. Why this should be is a mystery, but it is definitely the case.

Also ....... don't confuse old Chinese military rifles with Norinco newly made SKS's. The Chinese military ones will be quite nice made on the original Soviet machinery if I remember correctly....... the Norinco, we let's just say don't do it!

Is there actually any new SKS made ? All I've seen on the Canadian market so far is surplus rifle. I know I heard about Norinco's, but it seemed to me that an "old" new production without bayo.

I have one, hey BM......In fact pretty sure all 3 of mine are unissued. A 49, 55 and a 53...
A 49 is unlikely to be unissued except in rare case but the ones we had in the last batch are all refurb. The two 49 i have are refurb, even if 1 dont have a refurb stamp. The bores cant lie and its easy to see when the bayonet screw have been unscrewed and stacked again.

The '55 I sold you is unissued. The '49 and '53 you have are refurbished. I personally would not shoot the '55 and '49 and keep them in grease. But that is me.

We will have to wait and see what Westrifle brings in.

The 53 is my shooter, the other 2 will NOT be shot. Waiting on a Chinese from Marstar and plan on shooting it too.

Hello,
Have a question related to this subject. I'm considering to get a Russian SKS for cheap plinking at the distances 100-150 meters. If my skills allow me, may be for potential deer hunting in future.
I want unissued, but should I chaise one with hardwood stock or laminated ? What year ?
That may look like strange questions for someone, but I still have them.

Thanks !

Westrifle has about 8-10 nice unissued 54 hardwoods, and one laminate unissued online right now, just click the banner at the top of the page. Maybe pay the extra 10 bucks and go with the 56 as the laminate stick is probably a little more sturdy if you plan on possible hunting with it in the future. Guaranteed to get a nice gun from Westrifle.

Cheers
