I don't really understand why everyone favours the russian model over the Chinese military. I own both, they are exactly the same in terms of accuracy and metal finish. The bayonets are different I guess, but I don't plan on charging into "no mans land" any time soon. I also don't really like the red stain finish on the Russian stock. I think you can't go wrong with either, but I'd call the two models completely equal IMO.
For what it's worth, my Chinese SKS is more accurate than my Russian. Why this should be is a mystery, but it is definitely the case.

Long time lurker and I have been thinking about getting an SKS for a while and am looking at getting a Chinese unissued Type 56 rifle... The Marstar ones seem to be from the early 1960s according to their site but I noticed that they do not have the blade bayo... Wondering if they are maybe late 60s-early 70s due to the spike bayo...
