Anyone know what I buggered up after installing tapco stock? The safety only opens up maybe 1/3 of the way? Tried a search but no luck? Also the tapco metal vent handguard isn't too tight??

I had similar on an ATI stock, to fix it I filed a little material off the vertical u shaped part of the stock just in front of where the spring would be. Seems the safety was somehow binding on that a little. On the ATI I also filed down the flat part where the back of the trigger group sits (where the tapco spring opening is.) File a little at a time and test.

Yes, some of these stocks need a little file or Dremel work to fit right. Figure out where it's catching and remove a small amount of material at a time until it functions properly. The old rifles can have a little variance from gun to gun as well, adding to the complication.

Thanks alot for the tips! Will try some filing I guess. Driving me mad for something as simple as a stock install on this rifle!
Remove provided spring and file that flat area first I guess?

u have to put it together and look for signs of where its contacting on the stock and trim those areas. some parts u just have to look and the shape of the receiver vs the stock and figure out where its catching.

Well I really appreciate the help everyone.
I took the dremel to that vertical piece on the u shaped thing. Safety works perfect now!
