SKS scope mount drill/tap - where in Vancouver?

Here is another thread on CGN about a persons trials and tribulations on mounting a Choates mount that is made for the SKS with instructions. So if you think it is just about drilling and tapping a few holes, then think again.

drill and tap is a job for a first week apprentice I couldn't see paying any more than 20

The job seems simple enought for a professional to do it fast and not to charge the amount of money comparable to the cost of the SKS for it.

The argument that average guy knows nothing about how to do this type of job and will waste a lot of time trying to do it is rather strange.

(btw, I've already got a quote of $45, which seems way closer to reality than $120 from Reliable)

That a great deal, hope everthing works out for you..............

i always thought most places charged $10 a hole

Thats open... haha but anyways Aramir, to save as much money as possible, do as much of the install yourself. If you can set up the mount and mark the holes, even center punch them if possible so the shop only has to D&T it will cut down on labour costs. Call some machine shops in your area too, they might give you a break for such a small job.
