i've seen the drill and tap style from the states but i can't find anyone in canada who sells em. choate makes one but the stores here don't order them. they all carry the reciever cover replacement type but not the drill and tap!
if you know where i could get one ...

I was planning on going the Choate route also, but I have switched my mind, and I am seriously looking at the POSP 3-9x42 w/ 1000 Meter Rangefinder Rifle Scope -the price is right, plus it looks more authentic on a SKS (not that that is a major requirement for me :) ) With the higher POSP scope and mount you won't need to work about adding a shell deflector which would be a requirement for the lower Choate mount. The installation will be the same as both require 'drill and tap'

Do the 400M one it fits the SKS better, and the built in range finder is designed for the 7.62x39 cartridge.

Not to mention you wont be shooting 1000 yards anyway with an SKS. :D
 
Try the Canadian distributor for MidWay USA located in Dawsons Creek in BC. They should have one. I ordered one in February and it took 3 months to arrive!
Told them to stuff it as I found an alternate source for one (which I can't talk about). It is by far the BEST mount for an SKS.

Google 'Kalinka optics', they are not in Canada, but they have no issues that I'm aware of regarding selling to us.
