I'm looking to put a dot sight/scope on my sks, after all the looking around I did I've decide I want to use the choate scope mount. But I cand find it anywhere! Anybody know where to get one in Canada?

Ya sksman is good to go, generally much cheaper, and extremely reasonable shipping too. BC tactical is good too, as long as you don't mind removing your rear sight.

Thanks for the help everybody. I didnt find the one I want from BC Tactical.

This is one I'm after

I did find it on sksguy. I just thought we couldnt get gun parts from the US. If that part in pictular is ok to order from the US I'll order it from him.

Sorry I thought you were thinking a scout mount.

Drilling and tapping the receiver is a pain, and you have to cut the stock to make that one sit low enough for a good cheek weld.

It is a solid option, but for a simple red dot the BC tactical is a simple option that works great.

If I was using a scope I would take the Choate for sure though.

I agree, if your just doing a red dot the BC tactical is a great option. If you want to put any sort of magnified optic, or anything larger than a micro rds for that matter, the choate takes the cake.

IMO installing a side mount on my sks wasn't difficult at all. If you are capable of drilling and tapping something, and measuring, it's very straightforward.

Thanks for the link hical! I'll be ordering that very soon!

I did think of the scout mount, but I wanted the most solid mount I could get, and keep the iron sights. Especally when I'll be using a battery operated sight. I'm probably going to be putting on a Bushnell T-dot or a Vortex SPARC.
I'm pretty good with tools, and I have everything I need to do the job. I may have to buy a tap, I'll find out when I get it. Plus I have a Tapco stock on there, so cutting it if I have to isnt a big deal.

The Scout Scope mount is the way to go. Rock solid mounting, does not move. Remove the reddot, scope base can be used for iron sites. Put the reddot back on and returns to zero, works great for me.
