Sks. Scope or red dot

I like the red dot sights and recomend em' on an sks. This will sound crazy, but i really like the vortex venom. I know $300 for a sight for a $240 rifle is a bit nuts, but i like it.

Rear peep made from a Lee Enfield "L" sight. Cut a slot in cover, push it in, braze.

Note the front sight. A large aperture and a crosshair. For quick shooting, just put the target in the ring. For fine shooting, use the cross hair.

Very sturdy, reliable and accurate.

Interested to know how you decided the height of that unit, was it luck of the draw? Or painful trial and error?

I've got a Vortex Strike fire II on my SKS. I enjoy it and it's reasonably accurate.

The tech sight 200 IMO is an awesome addition to an SKS.

The tech sight is a pain in the azz. You have to modify the rear take down pin, then you have to unbolt it to clean the rifle. The rear aperture sight is better and one type slides over the rear sight ladder

I have a Williams peep site and fiber optic front post on an SKS and it is quite nice. It keeps the set up nice and tidy and is way easier to see than the original irons. I know you already have bought a rail so I'd agree that the TRS25 is a reasonable option for a red dot. In the same price range, I have also used a Sight Mark Ultra Shot on both my sks and vz but much prefer the size and simplicity of the TRS25.
