I've never owned an SKS before, but I recently received one in a partial trade. From looking at the stickies and other threads, I know it's a mostly-matching (only piston and stock force matched from what I see) 1950 Tula. It is in great condition with an impeccable bore.

The thing that interests me is that it has a very short serial number. 2 letters then a number in the mid 300s. I'm not sure how the Soviets did their serial numbers, but does this indicate an early rifle?

I don't have much use for it as I already own a CZ858, so I'll be selling it after. Also, I'm well aware that it's just an SKS and millions were made, I'm more or less just curious about it.

Thanks!

No one knows for sure where each year's production began serial number wise, when it comes to the Russians. On a whole I'd say your's is a shooter grade gun.
