Got the same problem at my range with sks cases not being picked up, some times you can find over 200 casing left there, guess they have problems with keeping the range clean. once i found over 200 223 casings left behind, not in a pile, but laying in 3 seperate piles on the firing line, well not a pile, but strewn around.

Our range is the only game in town and prices are premium for a membership. Still, I clean up after myself 90% of the time and that usually involves cleaning someone else's crap up too. Some people take pride in what they do and how they are in public. Some don't. Nuthin' new there.

Boils down to the above. If you don't like range noise don't buy or build a house next to a f@cking range!
Nice going for your club. They capitulated to a bunch of people that obviously were too freaking stupid to check out who their neighbors were and lost a bunch of members.
No reason for anybody to get huffy about their "right to litter" because it doesn't exist! The main point of my OP was to provide a gentle warning to the "irresponsible" SKS shooters, that their conduct could screw it up for others if they are not carefull. Right or wrong, the fact is that the majority of long gun shooters don't like "assault rifles" of any genre and it is easy to target the SKS because of the mess some of those shooters leave ... so, don't give them any reason to single you out! All the bluster is not going to change the facts...so just get with the program...and pick up your cases!
Also, "bump firing" refers to the practice of targeting the ground close to you (usually from the hip) and "walking" the bullets towards the target...The evidence, is clear to see on the ground. Did you know that part of the CFO trainning program for Range Inspectors includes digging into the divots and recovering bullets to determine the caliber...and it is almost always 7.62 X 39. (Spare me the rhetoric of having to prove it was from an SKS...if it quacks like a duck, flies like a duck, swims like a duck...its a duck). And, a litter of brass of any type on a concrete pad is a safety issue because they are like stepping on marbles.
So, to all those SKS shooters who bump fire, refuse to pick up their cases .... I recommend you start putting your money together so you can spend a few hundred thousand to buy some land, another 50K, to get it bermed, have it rezoned, pay insurance etc ...so you can charge $50.00 a month for the 30 SKS shooters in your area who don't like to pick up after themselves.

Sorry for my misinterpretation of "bump fire"..it was the term used by the CFO Range inspector when he dug out some of the divots that were strung out from no more than 10M from the firing line..in a string towards the 100M backstop. My labeling error doesn't change the idiocity of the act.
Another bit of advice for the folks who think that pissing people off that won't look them in the eye should know that some old codgers have held black belts in Martial arts for longer than they been annoying people....a staring contest does't make you either tough or even scary! Give your head a shake...you want to get in a "tiff" at the Range when you have a gun in your hand. One complaint to the RCMP and you'll be lucky to keep your PAL.

Seriously, black belts? You're gonna karate chop someone at the range lol? I'd like to see an old fart do that because somebody is making noise or didn't pick up their shells. I would expect that kind of post from my 12yr old.
Not in this case. The neighbours had been there for a while, knew there was a club and everyone co-existed until the volume and intensity of fire from the range increased markedly. There were complaints and when they were investigated large quantities of fresh 7.62x39 casings were found on the line and down range. The casings down range was of specific concern because the posted rules and range approvals require firing from the line during normal operations.
Attempts to solve the problem without imposing new rules were unsuccessful. Now because a few clowns who couldn't conduct themselves sensibly or according to the range regulations the entire membership suffers.

Sounds like prejudice against inexpensive rifles to me.
That could just as easily have been a mini-30 or a 7.62 AR or an XCR or any number of guns.
Why are none of those banned?
What if someone shoots brass in their SKS - are they still banned at your club?
Perhaps you misread my post. The SKS isn't banned at the club. What has been banned is rapid fire, FMJ and upon the order of the CFO shooting alone. This was due in large part to an increase in complaints from neighbours of rapid and high volume fire. These were people who previously had no problem with the range. The increase in complaints followed a sharp increase in steel 7.62x39 cases littering the range including piles well ahead of the shooting line.
