Sks sight adjustment

Is there a good way to adjust the front sight on an sks without buying the special tool?

Yes there is... Just get a screw driver you dont want any more, and cut off the end, so it fits in the top of the hole on youre front sight.

With a grinder and a zip cut disc, cut a groove (slot) in the shaft of the screw driver tip, wide enough to go over the slot on the front sight... to about 3/4 inch or 20mm deep and you have a front sight adjusting tool.

x2 I did this with a bolt, works perfect. I was able to adjust windage with a small c-clamp and socket as well.

Good tools are worth spending the money on, cheap you buy twice. I will make anything if i need it or to prove a point, but i will usually just buy it if possible. By the way, im a licenced mechanic, plumber/gasfitter & gunsmith.

Agreed, that's why I spend a small fortune on the tool trucks on the tools that I make a living with. But if I'm eager to sight in my new sub $200 rifle, and I don't to wait a week for a tool that will cost over 10% of the rifle's initial and get used very little, I'm more than willing to slap something together. Anyways it didn't take me anymore time or effort to use my ghetto-rigged tool, strictly flat rate :D.

That being said I agree with you, and if that tool was available when I needed it I would have just bought it. I'm more so impatient (and was horny to burn some surplus in my first sks), than cheap.
