I recently traded for a SKS with Dragunov stock and UTG quad rail. I'd like to play around with this one a bit and put a scope/ sight on it (not sure correct term). I'm thinking red dot etc and I'm not looking to go too deep financially on this. Any suggestions? Prices? Thanks

I did all that what you say...frankly I wasted my money. I ended up selling everything and going back to the original wood and it shot way better.

I had the Dragunov stock, shell deflector, bipod, barrel heat shield, Kalinka frame mount "quick release" scope mount, (don't waste time with a mount on the bolt cover, it moves)

Mounts on the bolt cover, yeah right, a few strokes of the file and it will fit, yeah right.
I do have a tight fitting one right now, but it took a lot of filing, and one cover wasted. I found I had to file inside the retaining pin hole to fit mine. How long it will remain tight? Anyone's guess!

These scope mounts work pretty good. Retain zero after cleaning and are a built in shell deflector. Nice part is, no permanent modifications to the rifle.

I don't have an SKS anymore, it's been years since I've owned one in fact, yet the best optic system I found involved the installation of the Choate Machine and Tool mount which bolts into the port side of the receiver, coupled with a Leapers fixed 4x scope. The mount was worth more than the scope itself, but it worked well for the SKS. YMMV, but I think that a red dot sight, possibly a Bushnell TRS-25, which sits nice and low on a Picatinny rail, would be ideal for your SKS.

Those things are of Satan himself. I'd give it away if I could find someone dumb enough to take it.

And for reference, medium zee rings are as low as you can go with a VX-1 3-9X40. Less than 1mm of clearance between eyepiece and the top of the rail.

I bought this before I heard of your product. But, I will be trying your rail on another SKS to compare them. Figure I'll support a bunch of companies. LOL.

I'm thinking about putting an RDS on my Tapco'ed SKS for some time now. Don't really want to buy one of those fancy $300-$500 reflex/RDS scopes since I don't own anything else with pic rails. I ended up looking at Leapers utg 4.2" ITA red/green. Was actually going to ask the same question in about an hour :) Found one for $70 plus shipping from a Canadian retailer.

I'm guessing I can mount right on the UTG quad rail though? I can't even see open sights with it on. It would be weird to have it mounted that far forward and I know it's not an overly accurate gun but I'd like to dial it in a little.

Mind telling me who? Might throw them some more business!

LOL a new copycat?

Yah, the Crusader rails started showing up a few months ago.

I'm sticking with the MagWedge on mine. Does the job, holds zero, doesn't make field stripping that much more challenging (still easier than my AR :p ).

I'm looking for an sks scope that mounts SOLID and still allows me to use stripper clips. It will definitely run a small low power scope.
What's the best???

This set up. I wish mine sat 1/4-1/2" lower it would be perfection!

Other option I'm looking is the new Gen 3 Magwedge one, looks promising.
