I was wondering if a standard commercial sling, eg one with those 'quick detach' clips, would work on an sks. I'd like something synthetic, not leather, or some sort of canvas. Reccommendations?

When I bought it I didn't get one. Milarm, Marstar don't have them, I don't think P&S has them, I don't really want to order one from the states and the local joints don't have them. Thus, no standard sks sling have I.

Short answer....maybe. The uncle-mikes brand quick detach swivels (usually used on studs) MIGHT have enough clearance to attach to the SKS's front sling mount and rear sling loop. Since SKS tolerances vary, it might be a crap shoot. You'd basically be mounting a sling loop on a sling loop. Its not eligant, but it could work. And its gonna rattle....

I remember toying with this, but can't remember which SKS it worked on.

Count me in on the SKS sling.......I didnt get one with mine either. I want one, leather, canvas anythign.

ARent they also different between the Yugo and norc models???

I've got a norc sks sling. You can have it if you really want it. The leather is so tough and stiff it will take a hammer to get it in place. I'll try to put some saddle oil on it tonight to see if I can get it to work.

Based on my small sample size, the Norc sling is OD canvas, with leather tab ends and pot-metal keepers. The leather ends wrap though the barrel mount and rear sling loop, and are attached to themselves with the metal keeper.

The Yugo M59/66B sling is an OD canvas strap with a metal clip for the front barrel attachment and then loops back on through a buckle for the rear sling loop.
