Does anybody know if these are available in Canada? I have never seen them for sale anywhere or heard of them here. For those not familiar they are an SKS that take a detachable AK mag, have a 16" barrel (would make them restricted), and have a MAK-90 type wood pistol grip thumbhole stock. They're also called an SKS M or "paratrooper". Any info on availability would be appreciated!

Yeah, the "M" or "Paratrooper" variants are commercially produced SKS's built in the mid-80's. They were not issued to any sort of military or paramilitary organization. The designation was to attract US shooters. They're also hard to find and overpriced because of their mythical mall-ninja Viet-Cong sniper performance.

They were mostly imported into the USA in the 80's and early 90's, never showed up in any quantity in Canada because of the barrel length issue (who wants a Restricted SKS ?). They are out of production for a long time.

They also came with the standard stock. They were made specifically for the USA market - there was no such thing as an SKS "Paratrooper" in the PRC arsenal.

They pop up infrequently, but there are NOT a lot of them around.
