Tried a Remington recoil pad screwed into the stock with a Limbsaver slip on
over it and it was still too short plus the experiment turned the guns recoil
into a trampoline affair. Called Tapco to order a Timbersmith, no they aren't
making them right now and not sure when they will be starting again, too
busy on other stuff they told me. So I ordered this adjustable stock extention
from E&L Manufacturing in Oregon, $29 bucks plus the recoil pad $12 and
now I have a 3 1/4 extension and the gun fits a 6.2 shooter like a charm.
Well built piece of kit that looks as sturdy as a SKS and it fits very well
to my Russian. I could have done a better job installing it but I was way
too impatient.

Hey, if it works for you, the I'm glad for you. Looks like crap? The SKS is no beauty queen. Hack away and make it functional to your tastes. Enjoy!

Functional is philosophically in line with a SKS while comfort isn't. After spending the evening shouldering the two
different systems, SKS with two recoil pads 2" increase of length of pull verses the adjustable
unit at 3 1/4" my conclusion is the 3 1/4" unit makes a SKS feel like a "Main Battle Rifle"
while the 2" unit still retain the "Carbine" feel. While neither unit is exactly pretty I have
a feeling that I've found a way out of buying the larger M305 that fits me better.
Truth be told when you shoulder the 3 1/4" rifle is feels like a totally different gun.
Until a larger/longer wood stock comes on the market I'm very happy with this set up.

I'll be first in line for one of these, they are built for a larger framed person.
