Ok So I know people have VERY different opinions on if they should keep the stock original or not... Personally, yes I love the wood stock. Looks nice and give it a WW2 look and feel...

1. I blast with chemical cleaner all my guns are synthetic because of this, also I like to be a little rough on them and synth stocks don't damage as easily.
2. SKS original wood stock is TINY on me... Gota tuck right in there.

Im looking for a replacement because of those two reasons. Preservation and ergonomics.

I know there are Tapco but the pistol grips screw into plastic and are easily messed up. I don't like ATI collapsible because I find it isn't tight where it collapses, little loose and jigly.

Are there any stocks out there that are a bit above and beyond the quality of this two.. I know tapco does make a Monte carlo and a "dragnov" stock but is there anything else ?

When I got my SKS the stock looked like it went through a wood chipper (can't remember the dealer I got it from), so I put a tapco on it, and it's been great. Who cares what anyone thinks, you can pick up SKS's all over the place, so change the stock, have fun, and shed no tears.

I put the Dragnov stock on then cut and trimmed the "butt" plate portion off to better fit it to me. It's solid and workable.
I cut the groove out for the bayonet and painted it with Krylon camo flat green. It's hard material, and you have to do some fitting
but that makes it fit better. Easier to trim off than to add on material. The pistol grip, to me, gives more stability especially in a semi.
Also you have to remove the bulbous bit at the end. I have done tweaking since this pic but you'll get the idea.

Note this is hard material to cut, drill and screw into.
