SKS Stock. Which do you prefer?

Scope doesn't work so good up front but, it looks cool.

Thanks!

I have a new appreciation for plywood now! Removed all the old shelac with furniture stripper and lightly sanded down any rough spots. Applied 12 coats of tung oil while buffing with 3m scotchbrite pads between coats then applied wax.

Very happy how it turned out!

I like the wood stocks to keep the original look, but with a 1" extension for a longer pull.
I do have one with a Choate Dragunov stock and it is nicely balanced and quick and comfortable to shoulder. I really like the ergonomic fit on this one.

When the original hardwood can look like this, everything else comes second.

That being said, I do have a couple that look like they were made with old barn boards.

Its not a letter gun, if that's what you mean, but 2 of the 3 in the picture of 3 rifles are. Its a '52; serial number is 2 cyrillic characters, 4 digits, then an "H". A few of my SKSs have 1 or 2 "H"s or "T"s after their serial. I have seen examples with up to 4 "T"s added. Not sure if they were put on by the refurb facility, importer, or what. But they don't look fresh.

wow, lotta folks here really like wood :p

I like the idea of adding a butt-pad to my factory stock, it's a little uncomfortable after 100 rounds or so.

Yeah i love the wood look, that is one of the reasons i find the SKS' Rifle appealing...here is my little collection.

purdy plinkers.

Mine looks like the one on the left, with the 'pokey' bayo instead of the 'cutty'.

I'll get around to getting pictures up at some point. Right now it's completely stock, with just around 200 rounds through it. I think all I want to do is add a butt-pad to fit my frame a little better (I'm 6'4"), and maybe change the rear sight to (I forget what it was, it's on another thread) end up behind the bolt for a better radius (is that what the measurement is called?)

I'm not convinced I want to do either, I might just keep it entirely 'stock'.
