A quick question for all the SKS guru's.

Are Russian and Chinese stocks interchangeable?

If I can put a Chinese trigger assembly on my Russian, I would say yes. I'm pretty sure they are. Some will drop right in some will need a small amount of filing in a couple little spots maybe. That goes for aftermarket stocks, I'm not sure about the original woods. That's what you mean isn't it? I bet they are though.

Yes, except for the bayonet cut outs on the spike vs blade versions.

Russian mags won't fit in one of my Chinese rifles. Couple of milometers off.
That said, some Russian stocks fit other Russian rifles, just not that well. Always expect some play in the fit, and hope for the best fit possible.

The area where the barrel attches to receiver can be different too. The Chinese used three methods. The long lug, short lug and pinned. The stocks for each are a little different in that area and will have to be modified accordingly. As well if memory serves me the cross bolt might be in a little different area on the Chinese ones particularly the later guns and would have to be modified too.
