SKS Storage Crate @ Princess Auto

I was looking at them today. I passed on one after seeing them in person.
I did buy some target stickers, a butt stock cartridge holder, some hearing protection, and a $4 pocket knife though!

Thanks for the heads up, went out and got 4 in the Barrie store. Make a cool Xmas present for some buddies and of course one for me. They had 7 left at 6:30 pm Monday when I left. For anyone else with an interest. Going to convert mine to a ammo storage. Dremel some slots for shelves and stand on end should make a good ammo cabinet.

That would be a real b*tch to lift if it was full of ammo.

So who has some history on these crates? 105mm cannon rounds, some radio-active, for Tanks? What country? Where are the crates from?

the boxes look Canadian, the markings are NATO stock numbers, and the 105mm APFSDS-T was one of the main rounds used in our old Leopard C-1 Tank, which has been replaced by the Leopard 2 which fires a 120mm round. Having handled many a tank round and many a box like this they are a two man lift. Now this particular box may have started out from the US as the gun listed for use on the box is the M-68, not the L7A1, same chamber and bore size just the M-68 is the American gun barrel and the L7A1 is the British gun barrel. Seeing how this is for sale in a Canadian Store most likely the Canadian surplus as it's not longer in use.

The Mississauga store had roughly a dozen on the floor when I was there earlier today. Mixed bag of condition ranged from newish to cracked and beaten.
Picked one up, now I have to figure out what I'm going to use it for.

I was just there and there were 5 left. I got one and all the rest had issues from bent hinges to missing screws (no biggie there I guess) and large gaps and cracks in the wood. No paint on mine but all the lettering appears to be there. Have alot of fun looking up NSN numbers and such to see what these held.

The store also has metal ammo cans for 120mm motar, looks to hold 2 rounds and like new shape for $50.00 Might get one of those next.

Thanks man. Your brain is awesome

Newmarket had about a dozen, non painted, rough, after inspection I passed.

Me too. Just looked at them in Winnipeg. They're cool looking but seem to be built to throw away. Not my solution for permanent storage. I did pick up a couple of the first aid boxes on sale for $12 though.
