SKS stripper clip loading thingy

I have never heard of the hockey tape method, sounds promising as well. I just cut a few of the clips in half and made 5 rounders (bend up the one side).

Have an SKS that may or not be bubba'd... Anywho, I have chosen not to use detachable mags because I like using stripper clips.

What is the purpose of this attachment or the electrical tape method y'all are talking about?

As long as you have good surplus clips with decent waxy/lubricated coatings, they slide A-OK with a push of the fingers. You can tweak the rails to decrease the friction on clips that get sticky in certain spots.

I never have trouble with loading 5 or 10 rounds on a good clip, why block to 5? Is it so that the 5 rounds don't rattle or separate in the clip and you can freely toss the clip once reloaded? I personally bench shoot or stand at an indoor range so I set my clips down gently.

The 10 round box mag in the rifle isn't pinned to 5 rounds, it's pinned to 5.5 or 5.75 rounds (ie, not quite 6). It allows proper loading of 5 rounds. While the box mag won't allow six rounds to be loaded, it will allow that 6th round off the stripper clip. When running a course of fire with 10 round strippers, I'll often have a pocket of 4 rounds on strippers, and another pocket of loose rounds after loading sequences and yes, it's a pain in the as$.

For this reason, most have dedicated 5 round stipper clips.
If you're just bench shooting at the range, why even bother with any clip? The box mag can be loaded with 5 individual loose rounds.

^ ^ I use electrical tape - diff colours for FMJ; HP; SP. They stack well in 5's. I've seen on some thread people 'pinching' the rails and ends with pliers to block @ 5. What'll they do when limit goes to 1 ?

If limit goes to 1 you don't need stripper clips anymore...

Mine is the same. 6th round comes off the clip but doesn't fit in the mag.
