I stuck mine into an ATI strikeforce stock,and love the feel of it,much more comfortable for a lofty 6'2" guy to fire,I will be buying another which will remain original though.
Its cheap enough to buy 2 and unless you do something drastic it can easily be put back in its original stock,whats all the fuss about people restocking an SKS?

I'd wait to see if hical gets the Archangel stocks in..which should be soon. They look good.

Point being ITS HIS RIFLE!!!! I took that peice of crap archaic wood stock off right out of the box without ever firing a round thro it. Ban me if you want 
I love my tapco intrafuse conversion and tapco mags. It was recommended by many people over the ati one. The only thing i like about the ati over tapco is the ati has side rails but tapco's is built much better IMO. Mod your gun the way you want, if you dont like it hey the sks are a dime a dozen.

he can do whatever he wants really. I just think the SKS tacticool rant I posted is hilarious. My sks formally wore a Tapco though I never got to the mags, I only recently refinished the original stock and returned to wood. Do as you wish, others will do the same. Some just don't like messing with a solid milsurp but, to each their own.

I understand that but when the topic of the thread is asking about which tactical stock to put on a SKS is best and the first few responses are, dont do it keep the wood, how the hell is that answering the OP's question? if he wanted to keep the wood why the hell did he post a thread about going tactical. Sometimes people forget what forums are really about when their E-dicks get in the way LMAO

I know this is an old thread, but enjoy your gun. Maybe you will shoot 10,000 rounds out of it tapco'd while the "purist" has only shot 10 rounds.

I had a Tapco Intrafuse on one of my SKS' and I liked it. The pistol grip and M4-style collapsible stock were good for what I was using that SKS for (teaching some women how to shoot centerfire semi-auto).
Of course, I had a cast-iron B!TCH of a time getting that pin out of the handguard so I could put the Tapco handguard on....

Tapco is fine,... used on my 4 sks for 5 yrs of heavy abuse without any problem.... Wood suck !!!
theres 3 types of enhancements in my eyes..
1: Useful
2: cool
3: neither/useless
only you can decide on what a chosen enhancement is for your gun and what you use it for.. Obviously for a purist anything that didnt come from the factory is going to be type 3... but for many of us we will class a new stock, red dot optic, bipod, taclight .. as types 1 and possibly 2 as well.. just depends on what we want from our gun.
The cost of the basic gun shouldnt come into play. If an accessory is going to increase the guns worth to you, then its worth the cost of the accessory.
For example, im going to convert an SKK ( detachable mag conversion .. not a factory SKS-D ) to left hand, whack a kwik rail on it, thread the muzzle for a brake/suppressor, and drop it into an ATI drag stock.. all because those accessories offer something to me that the basic rifle doesnt.. ie. ergonomics, optic mounting capabilities, and better recoil reduction.
And at the end, im going to have a very capable carbine for less than the cost of a basic AK or AR or Mini14/30 etc.. due to the fact that the gun is so cheap, as pointed out previously.. and also due to the cost, i can have one unmodified to satisfy both sides of the coin.
Really the "dont modify it because its so cheap" argument is forfeit.

I trained on the FN C1 so I prefer a pistol grip.
I put an ATI stock on my SKS which makes it far more comfortable to shoot and control and the adjustable LOP is icing on the cake... for me.
Try both styles out for yourself for fit and then decide what YOU want.
