I am thinking of trying one of the TS200 tech sights out on my SKS. Are they any good? Does anybody know of a Canadian distributers? Thanks.

I bought them from hical.

I bought them last year but didn't shoot the sks...... They seem ok, but the cleaning of the gun seem more complicated.

might want to post that in the rimfire section this is a thread about the SKS tech sights

Is it easy to get the original front sight off the 10/22 (mine's and stainless steel, 12 years old)?

Sometime they are easy, sometimes they can be a bit difficult. Drift toward the ejection port side, use solid strikes & a solid base to support the end of the barrel.

I had one & it was ok. The problem is that people often do not do the following before getting the tech sight. They don't get a trigger job done. They don't sort out the bedding. The results you get with the tech sight will be more satisfying if you take care of these 2 other things first. ymmv - Tony )

PS: imo, the reason for the wide front post on the sks was to make it more useful as a close quarter battle rifle. I also have a thin front post & it's okay. But if I was to use my sks for woods hunting, I would think about putting the wide front sight back on, or maybe getting a set of fibre optic open sights. Lots of people use hunting rifles with high vis open sights & they work beautifully set up like that. Lets face it unless you are going to just use your sks as a range gun, the other use would be as a capable if a bit heavy woods rifle. :)
