Sks unissued/unfired

I've talked to more than one importer about franken-pinning. It's the Government over there that must be convinced, that the Canadian Government will accept other ways of pinning. All ask for them to be done a better way,but when the SKSs land here they open the crates to find franken-pinned guns.

Understood, but there has to be more than one kind of pinning acceptable to them.

Go look at any chinese SKS. They discretly put a hard steel rivet in the mag casing where the serial number doesn't get obliterated. That would be FAR preferable to the ugly weld job we are getting.

Then who pinned the old batch of last year that has the steel rod welded to the follower? Wheren't those rifles imported from the former USSR countries?
Actually if I remember correctly they were pinned in Canada upon arrival, so how did they get export permits from the originating countries?
I have three of them from 3 different vendors and they all are pinned the same way.

That was an error as far as I know. That shipment was almost entirely destroyed by Canada Customs. You are right about it being pinned in Canada. Ellwoods did it for Izh Impex. Believe me both importer and exporter were shi*t#*& their pants they almost lost all of it. On top of it warning was send to exporting country. This is why frankpinned was the only way that was chosen for now.
As to Chinese pinned SKS the key word is " Chinese " as made in China not Russia or former USSR. China even counterfeits Mercedes Benz.

Sorry to say it Coyoye Ugly but shipping, price of metal, taxes (July HST) and other expenses went up in price. Just shipping alone went up by 40% (99 +40 % = $138) and if I add other expenses you get the price of 150 to 190 depending if you get it direct or buy thought middle man.
Also look at the price of ammo do you think that it ever going down again. I doubt it. Ten years ago it was way cheaper.
$99.00 or less was the price of the SKS's at the Calgary Gun Show, about 10yrs ago.
Came in big wood boxes, like 10 or more packed in like sardines!

I hope when the Norinco Boats come in to our shores this time and flood the market, the price will be very attractive. The "Boat" will cause a shift in the Supply-Demand Curve thus lowering the price, and stimulating the Canadian Economy, making our dollar go to 1.35 US, gasoline to 0.31 cents/liter, is my prediction. Can hardly wait!
