Shweet or not shweet.

Bolt mod is done as well.

Would you run this?

I'd run that no problem.

Tasteful and not full mall ninja! (I'm guilty of the second part myself)

I wouldn't - only because the rail is first generation, not second gen with a cutout so stripper clips can be used (like one I have :d).

Rest of it looks good!

I have a similar set up as the OP.

Weaver style side mount with Trs-25. Very user friendly and fun to shoot. $200 mod assuming you Doctor D&T yourself.

Just bought an SKS and have a couple of questions!

1) Love the finish on your sks, what was your re-finishing process?
2) How did you manage to get aftermarket mags to fit yours? I have a 1952 Russian and my archangel 5/35 mag doesn't seem to fit, do I file the stock or the mag?

Thanks!

Some mags that don't fit well require a little bit of filing at the back of the magazine to get the last round bolt hold open to work and to round off the edges around the front of the feed lip to get it to seat properly. Its such a little amount that if you don't have a file to use then a nail file on some nail clippers will work well enough. I'm not sure if you're asking about the finish on my SKS or Airborn's SKS.

Just tried the Vortex Venom today. Brand new optic and it's not working properly. Could easily adjust the windage but the elevation would not adjust. Tried to see if going down in elevation would work but still nothing. I could be doing something wrong here but I'm pretty sure it's not adjusting.

I will try and file the magazine, I've been trying to jam it in but it seems to be doing more harm to the mag than good. Also, I was refering to your finish! Love the way it looks

Its actually the factory finish. If I knew how they did it id be happy to tell you but I haven't got a clue. However the SKS that has this finish is a 1970's Chinese SKS. This one is a 1972. When you find them they're usually in very good to perfect condition unlike the Russian SKS which you can find in very poor to very good condition but never perfect.

Update on the Vortex Venom. Took the gun home, put it in the vise, and turned the elevation adjustment. It visually works when in the vise and it moves a lot with just a small adjustment. Not sure why it wasn't working at the range today. Will have to take it out again and try it before thinking about sending it off for warranty.
