Hey gun nutz; I took my brand new/old sks to the range today and put 300 rounds thru it. What a fun rifle:D. On two occasions the very last of 5 rounds got stuck{poking half out of the breech, bullet up:confused:} I was shooting milsurp ammo at a very slow deliberate pace {sighting in} is this normal or is there a fix? I've only ever experienced this in a pistol when rapid firing.

The gas system is maybe a bit dirty and not coming all the way back to eject the empty cases. A good cleaning should solve that. Pay attention to the gas piston, the gas hole, and the bolt to make sure it goes back all the way.

It's the factory steel mag. I cleaned all...and I mean ALL the cosmo from the gun and very lightly oiled all actions before taking to the range. All casings seemed to eject fine {twice even striking the tin roof and then straight down on to my head...! Think I would get stange looks if I show up with a hard hat next time?} This seems to me that as the bolt returns to chamber a round the bullet {skips} the breech bore and trys to follow the casing out of the action?! When I looked at the round, the bullet seemed to be unmarked, but the casing was of course smooshed by the carrier in the middle,I rechambered the round...bang! and it ejected normally, weird eh!

Happens with mine now and again, only after one or two shots. Now and again means once after two or three trips to the range.

Not sure why it happens to me, but it's rare enough that I don't worry about it. I just carefully rectify the problem, and continue shooting.

I also shoot it at a slow rate, carefully lining up each shot. (most of the time)

mkrainc; How is your mag pinned? I was wondering if the stop in the mag was brought lower {not to allow quite 6} that extra room might help everything stack up better? It's not a big problem as you've stated. But if it's an easy fix....and the frankenpinning is the only thing anyone has modified on the rifle....I don't know....I don't think it's a fouling issue though.

Had a few issues when I first got my well used piece, after taking it completely apart and thoroughly cleaning/oiling EVERYTHING (especially the gas pistons and bores) it works great.

Myabe the mag is not seated properly when you re-assembled it?
Try to take the mag out again and make sure it's seated properly before re-assembeling it.
