SKS: what's more desirable

As for the most collectible, a 1949 period correct, numbers matching like I have in my safe the fewest built, and all period correct there are not many around

So..... Where's the 48?

I thought this was Canada... Land of 49s? Seems like everyone on this board has one, or six. I bet there are some far more rare sks variations in canada to find...

Theres a few 49s around, only about 2 legit non refurbs that I know of though. 48s? pretty sketchy. Think I've seen a couple fakes.

53 Izzy non refurb is rare, maybe a couple in the country. Hard to say.

Ya, we're only talking about SKS's here, so not a huge issue either way. Although I think the going rate is about 225.

This was also said a number of years ago about K98s and Lee Enfields. Look at them now. With massive impending firearm restrictions and trade embargos, not to mention the UN, it is possible that these may be the last surplus imports coming into the country. What is their value then?

So Im guessing the one that member Fenceline saw at a dealer was fake.... And this demilled specimen in russia also. Strange how two people on opposite sides of the planet can be in kahoots and make identical fakes for...... ?

Im sorry guys, but 1949 is not the first animal. I would also think Romanian, Albanian, M59, M59/66, Long Barrel M59 prototype, East German, North Korean etc would be harder to find in Canada then a.... 49.

I would say the 1949 with all the correct features is harder to find than a M59 or M59/66. The rest of them yes they are much rarer than the 1949 however (at least in Canada). It isn't even fair to list a bunch of those as they don't exist on the collectors market (like East German, and North Korean). Realistically those are unobtainium even if a individual has significant amounts of money to throw at it.

I know of ZERO legit refurbs, I would LOVE to see one though. I know of a few properly period correct with all the period correct and matching serial numbers with the only the stock being changed out. In most cases do they are not period correct because it has the heavier for stock than the originally 49's did. As I said before I would LOVE to see a non refurb. The 53 Izzy non refurb are also ridiculously rare with maybe no more that 10 known to be around.
