hi,

I found an SKS in one of the local stores, it has the original finish on it (not bbq paint), clean bore and no year stamp on the receiver but it has a Star (Tula) on it, hardwood stock has been re-stamped to match with ###X over the original serial number, mag does not match, but everything else does have the original serial number factory stamped (not electropenciled!) the price is $300 out the door
Is this a good price for a no year SKS???
Please advise, Thank you!

IMO not really.

It's probably a Russian SKS made in 55/56 typically worth in the $200-220 range. At least that's what I paid for mine.

Backwards N is 1957 , 1956 looks like a D sort of ,1958 is a K, letters are after the serial #
Worth going rate for an sks in your area! $300 seems like a lot for that sks, my CTC has 2 laminate on now for $199 and birch stock for same!

Where are they $199 right now? I'm interested!

Thanks for all the replies, I did think it was priced too high but wasnt sure for the year, I know the 1949's demand a premium but didnt know about 56 or later.
Cheers!

I have one of those too. Right now they go for about $30-$40 more than an average sks but that will change in the near future. People will want it like people want muscle cars. Sks is the muscle car of that era.
