SkS work... Some will disagree.

I'm with you on sticking with a refinished laminate .. I'm also partial to the way the way refinished hardwoods come out. I just did these 2 and the extra Nagant stock set I had.

It's your gun, do what makes you happy.. Your mods are definitely tasteful unlike a lot of hack jobs you see.. Even for example nicely sportered enfield a still can bring a decent price tag.

Yup IMO the Timbersmith stock is the nicest wood stock for an SKS.
I really like mine too, longer buttstock, little recoil pad and the rifle is much more balanced, even with the bayonet but it does not improve accuracy...

If you can wait 3 or 4 months, the Archangel synthetic stock looks really nice too !!!

With the Promag 5/10 rounds mag...

With the Tapco 5/20 rounds mag...

I really want that timbersmith stock. Hical doesn't have it listed. Could you give us an idea on what pricing was like?

Nice guns guys.thanks for sharing... i want that stock. In US it sells around $160. damn it canadian prices. Anyone else want to add some SKS or red ####? Feel free...

If I told you I'd have to kill you. aaaaaaahahah

The "keep calm and put bacon on" profile pic is the icing on the cake. lol.

I think I'd like to get one of those stocks myself.. but if I did I'd have to find a way to stain it Russian red. Isn't that part of the fun with one of these old tanks?

Here's few more things... I found this old mag at my local gunsmith... Made by USA magazines.
I also found hard to aim so I notched out the rear sight from square to a V. And changed the front sight to hi viz one.

I did some experimenting with optics, so I modified my ejector port to eject forward and to the right. Eventually I decided to go with TS-200. Still gonna Crapco my baby, bayo removed, using a railed stock so a triangular foregrip will be going there. Perfect combination for an SKS from my perspective.

not sure if anyone touched on the mag release question in your first post but im sure you researched all the options available. I built one that extends to the trigger guard so I can release the mag with my trigger finger.

I love the look of the Timbersmith as well, but no luck finding a local one at a decent price, so just refinished mine. Might not be your cup of tea, but may may help get your creative side flowing.......

My thread can be sean here if you want to see more pictures and info....
