SKS - Yes or No

Troops are still using the M39 tho.... which is basically a refined M14. Id personally field a M14 over an SKS any day.

I hunted moose with an M305 for 8 hours that was enough for me. No jungles ect. The M14 is a ridiculously heavy over engineered rifle and is aweful for any type of maneuvers.

even if they were not supplied by ships, supplies will still come by trucks from the chinese border down thru ho chi minh trail.

The Ho Chi Minth trail got bombed so many times and getting supply through it was nearly impossible at the end. It was the supply lines through the harbours up North from China and Russia. Plus of course the anti war sentiment back home.

My ruger m77 mkII 7mm rem mag with a scope weighs more than any m14 I have owned and hunted with.
I hunted 14 days for moose with an m14.... I'm 160lbs soaking wet, 5ft 10 with a spine/pelvic disability.
In fact I've spent many days hunting for deer and moose with the M14 and those animals did not care what .308 delivery system I was using.
The argument that the m14 is ridiculously heavy is one I scoff at

but none of this crap you guys are discussing about vietnam has anything to do with the SKS.

I would take the scoped 77 and have a much better chance of bringing home some meat. I was so glad to get rid of my M305. It was heavy, not particularly accurate and handled like a 2x4.

Did the sight back out with every shot and your hands smell like used lawnmower oil after shooting it?

It's not so much that it's heavy. Lots of good hunting rifles are heavy and even heavier. The thing is, you're only carrying enough ammo for the hunt and maybe a spare magazine.

I'm recoil sensitive, so the extra weight compensates.

Most hunters don't notice rifle weight, unless they have a reason to. Why people insist on 6 pound rifles is beyond me and I've carried a lot of different rifles for many hundreds of miles.

The biggest issue most folks have with the M305 is the length/cumbersomeness.

Some people don't mind it at all and are really going to miss the very reliable and reasonably accurate platform as a hunting rifle. Just like the AR platform types, back when we could hunt with such systems, they were excellent for many types of hunting and are/were heavier than most sporting rifles chambered for the same cartridge.

neither is the M14 or how much you weight, lol.

I wouldn't hunt with an out of the box m305 either LOL
Every one of those rifles I ever bought got rendered down to it's receiver and carefully rebuilt with quality parts and usually 18.5" barrels.
Really sucks with this ban bullsh!t as it would be fun to take the sks's and m14s's out for some target time together.
Mark my words..... as an indigenous person acting under the amnesty and exceptions to the OIC, I "will" harvest animals this fall with my banned rifles , including the M14s
I'd dig up the LRB's but i can't remember where i buried them

Sorry I missed the jest, my bad. You sounded so serious

ya it's hard to be sarcastic or poke fun at people and express your good natured meaning from it instead of people getting their diapers in a bunch.
seems I find myself in that same situation haha
ask me if i give a **** LOL I've stopped worrying about peoples petty feelings on the internet. If you don't like people's negative opinions of someone's artwork that was posted for all to see and comment on..... don't join the discussion

Best improvement to my SKSs. Interestingly the edge of the peep hole almost perfectly lines up with the front sight cover ring creating a nice sight picture. Coincidence?
