Skylight for Dillon xl650

I just picked up the "skylight" for my dillon xl650 from inline fabrication. This is a slick little unit. It has a multi LED light that mounts in the centre hole of the tool head and a strip LED that mounts to the front frame. This lights up perfectly to see powder charges and operation. Well worth the $64 shipped.

The skylight. But seriously it's probably something to do with the machining process as it has no real function.

If you look at the pic showing the shell plate, you can also see the shell plate bearing mod, this is also well worth it as it removes the jerk from the system that spills powder.

I've read about cutting the spring a bit but that's not what you did ?

It's the Needle thrust bearing mod. No cutting required. Check out MD Gardner bearing kit.

I looked at that, but my bench is cluttered enough as is, I wanted something that would seamlessly integrate.

The press with case feeder puts it up around $1000 scares people off. Strong mount and a roller handle are must haves too.

I would have gone that route, but I called every place I could think of and out of 15 suppliers I called no one had the thrust bearing or thought they could get it. MD Gardner had the kit with 3 flowerette knobs for the powder bar, all thumb screws and the bearing for $30. It would have cost me more than that to drive to all the p,aces to get the parts I wanted.

more like 2000$ US + tax to get a 650 with a few change kits with the rest of the stuff I need from dillon....

I paid 650.00 for the Dillon XL-650 and 250.00 for the case feeder from EPPS a few months ago, I didn't need the strong mount for my bench application, the roller handle is a bonus but the ball handle works quite fine.

I would say so. This is my second xl650 and the first time with the strong mount. While it is not really needed for stability if you have a good bench, it does raise the press to a perfect height while standing. This makes the handle more ergonomic and the shell plate easier to see. A standard height stool is also the perfect level for this.
