What is everyones experience with the barrel heating? How many rounds do you guys throw through them b4 giving them a rest? do you find that the shots will start to drift low and to the left as the barrel heats? Im just sighting mine in for the first time and I just wanna know what these things can suffer b4 they need a break.

There is no hard-and-fast answer. Depends on barrel thickness, the power of the ammunition shot, how frequently, plus environmental conditions and altitude. I suggest you experiment and find out what *your* barrel's tolerances are.

If you're sighting in, you shouldn't be shooting 300 rounds in 2 hours. However, when the barrel gets too hot to touch(don't just grab it), give it some cooling time. It doesn't take much to get that hot either. It won't hurt anything though.
"...shots will start to..." Usually means something is touching the barrel as the barrel gets hot and expands.

Read somewhere that M16/M16A1 substained firing rate is 12-15 rounds/minutes. Above that you could get cook offs.

Just make sure that you shoot your 300 rounds evenly spaced over 20 minutes ;)
