SL8, Floating Firing Pin?

Hi all.

I've started to look around for information about reloading for an SL8 and the issue of primer type comes up in many threads. It's suggested that you use a primer with a thicker cup (CCI No. 41) for semi-automatic rifles that have a floating firing pin, does the SL8 have one?

Any wisdom shared would be appreciated.

I don't have the level of knowledge to answer your question with authority, but I've been using Winchester Small Rifle primers without issue.

Yes, the SL8 and G36 have floating firing pins. They are very light, I believe lighter than Ar15 / M16 pins.

I reload for my sl8 with cci 400 small rifle primers. I always see a small dimple on the round when I extract it without firing. No problems to date.

I'm going to try and get some CCI Small Rifle primers next week and give it a go.
