SL8-G36 conversion guide?

Is there some kind of guide or tutorial that will help me remove the old stock + trigger to replace with a pistol grip + folding stock?

I tried googling, but didn't really get anywhere.

Do you have the conversion kit yet or are you just curious about how it is done? If you are looking at getting the AR type conversion, send a pm to Dangertree and as if it comes with instructions. You can also look at HK Pro. There is a lot of conversion info there.

Well, the stock+trigger should be arriving today, so i wanna know what to do with it.

OKay, well I found the trigger mechanism swapping guide, but Im a little stuck on the whole backplate ordeal.

I need to remove the back plate from the sl8 stock, and put it on the g36 stock. How do I go about removing it?

tried sliding it up, but it wont budge

You need to punch the lock out. (At the top of the part, there is a pin that old it there. BTW, it's really hard to use the pin again after it's been punched out.

What conversion kit did you buy?

You mean in that hole at the very top of it? There is no pin there, its just a hole.

Its just a stock I bought from a cgn member.

Look closely. The pin is a thin tube with a slit down the side that allows it to compress.

Ohhh! Its so thin, I didnt even see it. If I punch it out.... I wont be able to use it again? Is this gonna cause any problems?

Its in there pretty tight...

I've never taken the pin out personally. The pin is under compression and wants to expand. That what holds it in place. When you remove it it will expand, so it is hard to compress and fit back in the hole. I belive that's what Pat911 is refering to.

Well, I will need to remove the pin. How will I lock the back plate to the new stock without this pin? Would probably need to affix it to the new stock by some other means.

Still cant get the damn pin out.

Use a proper pin punch to support the thing - else it's likely to collapse and then you're cooked.

Personnaly, I used an other pin I found at home to install this part back in the new stock. Almost anything will work.
