Thanks! The one I bought came from the newest shipment that Nordic Marksman acquired. Im hoping that it functions as designed and doesnt need any modifications.
in my experience it wasn't the magwell but rather the magazine that made it necessary to modify the receiver. the magwell fits fine, but when you insert the mag it passes through the magwell ok and then hits the tabs in the receiver. no magwell would change that. i presume some magazines are narrow enough at the top to fit and some are not. my experience is with metal cpd lar mags.
the other issue is with the new bolt catch. in my case the bit that engages the follower and holds the bolt open after last round was a bit too long and hit the cases when a loaded magazine was inserted. again, this may be magazine-dependent.

Thanks for the input! I’m hoping that mine likes pmags because I’ve got lots of those! Lol
If I don’t really like it, I might source some g36 pmags and just file the mags down a bit and stick to the factory magwell. But I’m still waiting on the Hera arms lower to arrive before I install the new magwell.
When I did the Hera lower and Spuhr magwell on my SL8, I don't recall having any extra machining done or anything like that. I did have it done by a local smith, but he said it was a pretty straightforward install. I took a look just now and can't see any obvious filing or machining marks in the receiver.
It all runs really well btw.
The only thing about using the stock Pmags is 1) they are expensive and 2) you can't use any kind of pistol mags (LAR etc) in the SL8. With the Spuhr magwell, you just use any stanag mag.

Just got a Tommy Built one, and really like it far more than what I have seen of the Spuhr unit.
Takes PMags with not additional messing around.
where did you get a tommy built magwell? And what was the cost to get it here?
