SL8s Arriving in Canada - But the Price...Oh My!

This is all relative...

In anticipation for hopefully an SL8 showing up, I did buy the magazines last year when they showed up at G4C (magazine but no gun). $89.99 each for a plastic 5-rounder (native 5 rounder, not pinned).

Now that may seem like a ridiculous price for a magazine and it certainly is, but compare that to the Tikka T3x TAC A1 or CTR magazines. Those are 10 rounders, are metal, but are like $200.00 each...and so far no aftermarket alternative unfortunately and I bit the bullet and bought 3...I keep these in bubble mailers in my range bag, like they are the Faberge egg or something.

You bought single or double stack mags?

G36 P mags can be modified to work in a -4 or -5 without modifying the gun

Man, soon these prices are going to rival "street prices" for FA's brought from the States by totally legit first nations businessmen...

The more guns added to the ban list makes what is left worth that much more, supply and demand

Translation : profiteering, price gouging and record profits... at a moment when the whole community should stand united as one.

This is a big part of the reason why we collectively keep losing, on all fronts. Every dollar going to a greedy seller or business is a dollar that's not going to support the cause by other means (gun org memberships, CPC donations, bringing new shooters to the range, etc).

They are double stack mags. The mag has a number 5 on it and it looks like there is block or something attached to the follower which prevents loading more than five (can see through it).

I have the mags, but not the firearm and at these prices I think it may be better just to throw my mags on the EE...or hope that somehow the SL8-4/5 are still within my budget...but I think I may be fooling myself.

They will be more lol, they are double stack well and can be converted to g36s with hera lowers .. sl8-1s can not as the mag well cut goes into the reciever

Yup...I am skeptical that an SL8 will give me an appreciable and noticeable $1500 more worth of shooting, handling and build quality experience compared to the X95.

I do realize there are members here with G36s, but still...this is too rich for my blood...

I have both an SL8-5 and an X95 both purchased after the 2020 ban.
The SL8 is more of a bench rifle due to the heavy barrel.
I have mine set up as a DMR with the Hera Arms buttstock conversion kit and a Magpul PRS stock.

If we were able to shoot our AR’s the Tavor would probably be gone the next day.
It shoots fine but it’s no Noveske, KAC, Colt,or Geissele.

I spent most of the day today shooting the SL8 doing load development.
