Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with a slant brake on their Non-restricted VZ58. I'm looking at putting some kind of brake on but I don't want anything that will make the already goofy long rifle look even longer.

I've got an AK 74 style slant brake on mine and I like it. It seems to overcompensate a bit (can feel it pulling muzzle down) but thats the only negative ive got about it.

TOTALLY DEPENDS ON THE TYPE OF SLANT BRAKE****** I see this SOOOooooo many times on CGN, It seems like 9/10 people have only experience with the DLASK Slant brake, which is proven to over compensate massively on 18+" barrels
But my experience with brake like Corwin arms slant brake, or the Tapco AK slant is they work just fine.... not as effective as a compensator, BUT they dont appear to increase the report of a firearm very much if not at all.

NO! DO NOT!

Unless you don't like your face. The slant break makes the butt kick you in the face.

Improper indexing of the slant comp is the issue there. Dlask originally had 3 slots but later changed their design to 1 so that it could not be indexed incorrectly. Angled up and to the right is the correct way. Running it this way doesn't give the shooter unnecessary butt feedback. Nobody likes butt feedback in their face. I can't remember how the Corwin Arms slant comp was indexable but I thought it overcompensated (lol) due either to its size, being straight up and down or both. At any rate, the Dlask worked awesome for me and I really liked it. No butt in the face action and a noticeable reduction in muzzle flip. Add in cheap cost and ease of cleaning and it was my favorite.

I bought 5 different brakes and flash hiders from corwin arms and tried them all. I ended up keeping the longest one on the rifle and still have the other 4 in a drawer somewhere. I didn't mind the slant brake but I liked the longer proper brakes more. It does pull the muzzle down noticably. If you weren't holding your rifle securely I could see it levering the butt up into your face but it's a non issue at the range in typical shooting stances.

I have a matador hammerhead brake made in Canada btw, which works good but is deafening to shoot without plugs. The standard CSA ones are great.I'm indecisive with my brakes too right now my VZ is brakeless

I tried both DLASK and the short one from Corwin's and I replaced it with this one:

If I remember correctly, it did make the POI switch when I had the slanted brake. Like 8" high or something

Would the tapco slant brake just screw on normally just like any other break, or would I need to modify it?

Well the tapco slant brake is actually threaded in 14mm LH. So it wouldn't thread onto a VZ, I was just using it as an example that some slant brakes work fine....

I once read that a person drilled a 3/16" hole in the bottom of their Dlask slant brake and it totally solve the overcompensation problem... I intend to do this with mine at some point.
