This is more relevant to the antiques/black powder crowd as they're generally more do-it-yourselfers and the issue pertains specifically to the old open top colts, smith and wessons and Merwin/hulberts with the integral barrels.

Since the barrels on single piece barrel revolvers (colt open tops, smith and wesson top breaks, merwin and hulberts) are relatively thin and are made from the same piece of metal as the rest of the front portion of the gun it's impossible to swap out the barrel without making the whole front end of the gun from scratch.

As a result, the only solution for a pitted/rough bore is to sleeve it. Thing is, most of these guns have barrel walls that're on the thin side. Anyone out there done a sleeving job on one of these types of guns, or can recommend a good gunsmith who could?
