I'm wanting to have the slide milled on my norc 1911A1C to fit a vortex venom.
Black Box will only do RMR sight cuts, Tac-Ord is so busy with shotguns & rifle work they are no longer doing any pistol work. My next on the list is Red Tower Armoury. Any one have work done by them? Your thoughts? Any recomendations for others?
Thanks for any info.

I have a verom on a nor.1911A1 with a novak dovetail mount ( It is a custom gun) What is the RMR mount?, I thought that is what these where?
I just did another vortex on a new Canik TP9SKx , they come with the cut done already; look good and just a quick shoot, do't have it zeroed in yet 100%

I cut my Norc slides with a BOMAR cut and use a EGW reflex mount #4312 and nicks the Venom base and mount the Venom on the EGW mount that way I can mount a Bomar style sight also. Keeps your sight options open. Also used a LPA cut with EGW Razor base for my C-More RT2. The one negative is if you can't mill it yourself the project will cost you more than you paid for the gun ?

marshall, was the novak mounting plate you used a Burris? I don't know what the rear slide cut is on my norc. Did you have to do any machining on your slide to fit the novak dovetail mount? Minor fitting would not be a problem. The option you chose is my next option, going with a dovetail mount. Here's hoping the slide cut for the factory rear sight is close to a novak cut dovetail mount. It would be a cheaper option.

warzaw, I wonder what cut the norc slide has? Did you have to remove much to fit the bowmar dovetail? I took a quick look at theEGW website, they have both the bowmar and the novak. Probably ITAR, but I know of suppliers in Canada. I'll have to look up dimensions of each cut .

The Norc cut is a animal unto itself there are no after market mount options you can hand cut it to fit a Government cut the sight sits up way to high not the best way to go. You need to make a mill cut of 60 x .359. for the Bomar cut and 60x.375 for LPA cut the Novak cut is 65 degrees. You have a lot of metal to cut not easy without a mill and proper tooling the cost will run you a $100 or more

Thanks for the info and dimensions. I think I'll have red tower armouries mill the slide. Their price is good. I don't want to purchase the dove tail mount knowing the norc slide cut is "an animal unto itself".
Thanks for the advice, gentlemen.
All I really need are younger eyes!

The slide was already cut for the Novak when I bought the gun from a fellow guntz , the gun was built by dark international,B.C.; a super nice gun, shoots better than a hi end Kimber I had,
Yes I used the Burris mount , took 5 min. to slide out the open sight, slide in the new dovetail block and screw everything down, not as low as a milled sight, but cost was only 50.oo
But than again , I don't shoot any matches, just informal, and a bit of steel challenge in the summer with the "old boys"
I could post a picture if I got off my butt and figured it out, or send you email picture is you P.M. me.
